Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist
We are seeking to recruit an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist on a permanent basis. This role will be based in Newbridge and will report to the Planning Programme Manager.
Main Duties:
* Lead the EIA process for large scale Renewable Energy Projects, including the delivery of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Appropriate Assessment/Natura Impact Statement.
* Provide environmental expertise to assist the Planning Team and inform the Business Unit Strategy to ensure compliance with Planning and Environmental issues.
* Stay up-to-date with changes in planning/environmental legislation, policy decisions, and updates to national, regional, and local authority development plans.
* Assist with stakeholder engagement and project planning for communications and consultation with local communities and relevant stakeholders.
* Prepare specifications for third-party services and assist with procurement processes.
* E nsure all works comply with Bord na Móna's Health & Safety and Environmental policies and EU and National policies and statutory requirements.
* Assist with upskilling and mentoring junior staff, particularly in EIA and Appropriate Assessment processes.
The Person:
* Hons Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent; Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable but not essential.
* Minimum 5 years experience in leading EIAR and AA/NIS preparation for large-scale projects.
* Expertise in delivering EIS/EIAR and AA/NIS documentation for large-scale development projects.
* Understanding of EIA process and Irish planning policy and legislation in relation to EIA.
* Experience in Renewables and related infrastructure or SID projects is desirable but not essential.
