Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of this role is to support the Farms Business Partner and Finance Team. The candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial results. This role will also play a crucial part in strengthening the company's internal control environment through review, implementation, and monitoring of effective controls. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive professional with a strong understanding of financial accounting and internal control principles.
In addition, the candidate will play a key role in Farms Digital Strategy Projects and supporting/collaboration with all areas of the business including agronomy and operations.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Finance and management accounting:
Responsible for the preparation and submission of accurate weekly accounts and business KPI in line with group finance deadlines
Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts and preparation of group submissions in line with group finance deadlines. Balance sheet reconciliations and GL reviews
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Support the business in preparation of annual budget
Prepare and maintain sufficient records to support grant and R&D tax credit claims
Provide financial information and support to the management to support business decisions
Preparation of financial appraisals for capital spend/investment
Cost Analysis and Management:
Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Develop and implement cost management strategies to optimize business operations.
Monitor and report on cost variances and trends.
Internal Controls & Compliance
Review, evaluate and report on existing internal control processes and identify areas for improvement, providing recommendations for change
Design, implement, and monitor/embed effective internal controls to safeguard company
assets and ensure data integrity
Assist with internal and external audits
Other:
Support the business in building reporting tools/models for all areas of the business -
Finance, Agronomy, Operations, People
Support the business and participate in projects to deliver the Farms Digital Strategy
Participate in other specific projects as assigned
Key Skills & Knowledge
Ability to manage time and perform to strict deadlines
Excellent Communication skills with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely at all levels
Ability to solve problems and suggest innovative solutions.
Ability to perform to a high standard in a demanding environment
Excellent organising and planning skills
Advanced IT Skills required (advanced Excel Skills essential)
Flexibility if required to work outside of normal hours at certain times to suit requirements of the business and cover holidays when required
Ability to work on own initiative.
Have a high level of personal integrity
Desirable:
Training in a large/medium audit practice environment preferential but not essential.
Knowledge / experience of agriculture / horticulture would be an advantage.
Previous experience in an FMCG sector, preferably in the Fresh Food Industry would be an advantage.
Education & Qualifications:
Finalist or Qualified accountant
