Job Description:
As a members’ organisation, Ibec requires a director who can provide effective leadership and direction with the view to making the strategic vision of the telecommunications sector a reality, by using all the resources available through Ibec and by leading its trade association through the development and implementation of appropriate action plans and through proactive external engagement and advocacy. The Director will manage relationships with members and key stakeholders and identify opportunities for growth and development that can bring added value to members, TII, and the wider sector. As a Senior Manager within Ibec, this role includes working with colleagues in the implementation of Ibec’s strategic and organisation development initiatives to support the delivery of Ibec’s strategy. ABOUT THE ROLE
Strategy delivery
* Develop a compelling vision for development and growth in the sector
* Lead and shape the strategic direction of TII, collaborating closely with the council to develop a clear strategic implementation plan.
* Create and execute a Stakeholder Management and Advocacy Strategy, establishing strategic alliances at national and international levels.
* Develop and execute a Reputation Strategy, enhancing the profile of both the Trade Association and the broader Industry.
* Create and implement a comprehensive Communications Strategy at local, national, and international levels.
* Be the key spokesperson and representative of the sector in all external forums, including broadcast, print and online media.
* Foster constructive collaboration with relevant business sectors and stakeholders to advance overall sector development
Representation and Policy Development
* Monitor developments in the external environment relevant to the sector including regulatory, social, and competitive and make recommendations for action.
* Build effective relationships with key stakeholders and policy decision makers and engage with other Ibec sectors on common issues.
* Co-ordinate the review of draft legislation; consultation/policy papers etc., communicating with member companies and providing appropriate feedback.
* Communicate with member companies and provide analysis and appropriate updates on sector related issues and developments at national and EU level, producing regular publications and major reports where appropriate.
Public Affairs/Media
* Dynamic and effective communication with members, stakeholders and media on sector related issues and initiatives.
Member Relations and Committee Work:
* Ensure that secretariat support is provided to council and working groups to deliver agreed work programmes.
* Cultivate and nurture relationships with senior executives in member companies.
* Establish work programmes and implementation plans for member services, including events and networking.
* Provide regular reports to the council on member service activities.
Association Management and Governance
* Uphold corporate governance standards and manage relationships with the TII council effectively in accordance with Ibec standards.
* Maintain and align the constitution with relevant Ibec guidelines.
* Collaborate closely with the TII council to develop association strategy and objectives.
* Ensure the effective implementation and delivery of strategy and objectives.
* Initiate and lead various initiatives as appropriate.
Key Account Management:
* Ensure Ibec sector members are aware and avail of the full Ibec service offering that is open to and of value to them including ER, legal supports, networking, policy and sectoral insights.
* Manage and review the engagement plan for all TII members in line with Ibec’s Account Management structure and Ibec Customer Charter.
* Managing the relationship with key contacts to develop robust and valued relationships with our members.
* Deliver best in class customer satisfaction across the account base and engage fully in Ibec NPS and member satisfaction surveys.
Financial Management and Income generation
* Full commercial responsibility for the growth and development of TII.
* Developing and meeting budget targets as agreed.
* Proactively seek opportunities for revenue generation and cost savings.
* Work within Ibec’s organisation governance framework.
Leadership and Development:
* Lead and motivate colleagues to achieve policy objectives, activity targets, and financial goals.
* Manage individual performance, offering coaching and support as needed.
* Act as a role model for team members.
* Support individual development.
* Ensure that colleagues are trained, understand and comply with Ibec governance
Ibec Strategy Delivery:
* Play a key role in Ibec's strategic delivery as a senior manager.
* Collaborate with various teams across the organisation on key and general account management.
* Engage collaboratively in initiatives and projects relevant to the Trade Association's mission.
ABOUT YOU
Qualifications Skills and Experience
* Hold a primary degree in a relevant discipline; additional postgraduate/professional qualifications are advantageous.
* Extensive experience in public affairs, public policy and/or communications.
* Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic communications and reputation plans.
* Strong leadership, strategic and communication capabilities.
* Proficiency in public advocacy and influencing, with deep knowledge of media and political landscapes.
* Knowledge of business and competitive issues in the telecommunications industry both locally and at EU level would be advantageous.
* Understanding of the factors influencing sector competitiveness.
* Skill in managing complex stakeholder engagements.
* Exceptional strategic relationship management skills, both internal and external.
* Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a highly professional team.
