We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience in the automotive industry to join our team. The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently, thrives under pressure and is committed to an exceptional level of delivery standards. You will join an Engineering Research and Development Practice in Expleo Ireland, working on key projects and helping to grow the team.
Responsibilities
* Research and develop mechanical design solutions for high-performance enclosures with stringent thermal, ingress, impact and EMI performance.
* Analyse customer and functional requirements specifications to define performance criteria (DOORS experience desirable).
* Design 3D models/2D drawings with functional dimensions according to ISO standards, Drawing Control inc. GD+T.
* Prototyping (SLA, SLS, 3D Printing, and Machining), bench testing, data gathering and debug analysis.
* Define, conduct and analyse Thermal simulations (in-house or with third parties).
* Design for Manufacture - tooling, moulding and assembly experience - ability to identify and suggest design and/or process improvements.
* Conduct Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) activities.
* Tolerance investigations and stack up analysis experience.
* Support technical architecture and standards assignments.
* Leads design activities with internal and external contributors, i.e., Purchasing/Supply Chain/Manufacturing, Other R&D entities.
* Supports project planning and project management.
* Manage project documentation in the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) database.
Qualifications
* Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience
* 3 years experience in Mechanical Design minimum.
* Proven proficiency in 3D CAD - ideally CATIA V5.
* Experience in designing passively and actively cooled (Air Cooled and Liquid cooling) solutions.
* Experience with alloy die casting and sheet metal for high volume production.
* Injection moulding experience desirable but not essential.
* Adhesives experience desirable but not essential.
