Overall Purpose of the Job
The job of Apprentice Fitter concerns the completion of all aspects of a time-based Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter in conjunction with Solas. You will work under supervision as part of a multi-discipline maintenance team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under supervision of qualified maintenance Technicians:
* To carry out their full apprenticeship training in compliance with SOLAS MAMF requirements.
* Ensure compliance at all times with Health and Safety and legislative requirements.
* Ensure that all EHS procedures are adhered to at all times. Contribute to targets related to Safety, Quality, Compliance and Continuous Improvement.
* To assist with planned preventative maintenance on all equipment under our control as per the Plant CMMS while upholding compliance to the clients GDP standards.
* To assist with fault finding and repairs on equipment during unplanned downtime events.
* Attend external block release as dictated by Solas.
* Pass both Junior & Senior trades exams.
* Maintain all work records on the clients CMMS system and ensure all works are completed and closed within the agreed timeframe.
* Liaising with department engineers and other support personnel to identify and solve problems.
* Ensure all training is completed on time per client learning management system.
* Must be willing to take on and familiarize with all relevant site systems as deemed necessary to complete the role.
* Maintain an internal ‘Best Practice’ regime and encourage continuous improvements.
* Immediately report any accident, incidents or near misses to your line manager or supervisor.
* Take on small ad-hoc projects from time to time as deemed necessary by the Maintenance manager or maintenance supervisor.
Person Specification
* Leaving certificate with Minimum O3 in maths.
* Proficient in English, written, oral & aural.
* Competent PC skills in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook.
Skills Aptitude Knowledge
* Must be willing to carry out instructions thoroughly, accurately & without discourse.
* Must be a team player with good communication skills both verbal & written.
* Enthusiastic approach to work with good attention to detail.
* Good initiative and pro-active approach to work with good time management skills.
* Basic PC skills.
* Well presented with excellent interpersonal skills in a customer-facing environment.
* Customer focused.
Qualifications and Experience
* Successful Leaving Certificate.
* Leaving certificate with Minimum O3 in maths.
* Basic computer skills essential.
Working Pattern
Monday to Thursday 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Friday 8 AM to 3:30 PM.
