JOB TITLE Receptionist LOCATION The Residence Portlaoise Nursing Home JOB PURPOSE To perform general receptionist duties for the Centre.
Please note, this is a weekend role only, Saturday and Sunday, 11am to 7pm.
REPORTS TO Director of Nursing QUALIFICATIONS Must be helpful, friendly, approachable and be computer literate i.e.
excel/word _____ Overview of the post ___________________________________ The Receptionist will assist in the day to day running of the front desk.
The post involves working as part of a team whilst organizing and prioritizing job duties.
_____ Responsibilities _________________________________________ Answer phone calls, take messages and direct where appropriate.
Greet and assist visitors, residents or delivery people.
Make copies, write letters, address envelopes, send faxes/emails, make signs and other related duties for nursing, kitchen and/or administrative staff.
Send out requested information in post.
Make phone calls as requested by staff or residents.
Receive and record restaurant bookings and notify appropriate staff.
Arrange transport for residents or lab materials/deliveries.
Respond to all resident and guest complaints swiftly and in a courteous manner.
Maintain resident list and birthday lists.
Place orders as requested by Managers (Nursing or Administrative) Maintain appropriate stock levels of stationary, paper, ink, etc.
and notify Manager when supplies need to be ordered.
Efficiently use information technology, computer and other office equipment.
Perform Admin tasks for Accounts department, where necessary.
Ensure the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of all residents.
Practice infection control techniques.
Use correct moving and handling techniques.
Abide by the Centres Policies and Procedures.
Ensure that all incidents are recorded and appropriate action is taken.
Be knowledgeable of fire and safety policies.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment Work co-operatively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team.
Other duties which may be required from time to time.

Attending Fire and Safety and Manual Handling Courses _____ Working Conditions ____________________________________ Work is normally performed within the confines of the Centre.
Minimal physical activity requiring the handling of objects Majority of shift will be sitting in desk environment, although some standing, walking and lifting will be required.
Extensive computer use.
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
