Mechanical Quantity Surveyor
We are seeking a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor with 3+ years of experience working with engineering consultancies or mechanical contractors.
Job Description
This is a permanent role based in Dublin, primarily focused on a large 3rd level college project. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects related to assigned live construction projects, from setting initial cost budgets to compiling and closing out final accounts.
The role will involve working closely with the project team to ensure that the projects are completed within budget and that all financial aspects are in order. The position will be both office and site based, providing an excellent opportunity for an ambitious quantity surveyor to contribute to a developing and expanding department in a fast-growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse tender BoQs to set construction budgets for the procurement of assigned projects.
* Conduct monthly cost tracking against budgets and reporting.
* Liaise with internal/external stakeholders on commercial aspects of projects.
* Prepare, submit, and achieve certification on Monthly Payment Claim Notices.
* Compile costs and achieve agreement of contract adjustments throughout the project.
* Maintain accurate records, ensuring all project commercial registers are developed and up to date.
* Certify subcontractors and maintain accurate control accounts for each.
* Manage contractual aspects of the project; review and manage contracts, collateral warranties, bonds, etc.
* Monitor commercial performance & forecasts to completion, cash flow projections, and all commercial aspects of assigned projects.
* Report monthly on the commercial performance of projects to directors at monthly progress report meetings.
* Ensure QS departmental reports, claims, etc. are issued both internally and externally to the required deadlines.
* Identify and assess potential risks related to commercial aspects of the project.
Requirements:
* Qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
* 3+ years' experience in a quantity surveying role with a mechanical contractor.
* Strong understanding of mechanical installations.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
* Strong negotiation and communication skills, focusing on M&E components.
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* Strong organisational skills and methodical record keeping.
* Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
