Job Description:
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
Do you enjoy watching the latest movies, television shows, or sporting events on your computer, tablet, or smartphone? Do you hate waiting for your pages to load or your show to re-buffer? Do you want to contribute to systems that deliver a flawless experience in serving content from the edge? Good - us too.
CloudFront Routing organization is looking for experienced Software Engineers to join our team in vibrant Dublin, Ireland. We offer comprehensive relocation and benefit packages.
At AWS CloudFront, working on systems with global scale is a daily part of the job. As part of the CloudFront Routing team, you will own and run one of the largest DNS and BGP infrastructures in the world.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
Key job responsibilities:
As a Software Development Engineer in the CloudFront Routing organization, you will have ownership of core components (like Anti-DDoS, Flash traffic management, DNS Services, Anycast @scale, Availability systems, and services).
Our engineers are empowered to make self-driven decisions on the right technologies to solve problems at Global Scale. You will be writing documentation to get feedback and consensus from other Sr. Engineers/Principal Engineers to make decisions in finding optimal solutions for large scale problems, picking programming languages (we use Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python), and selecting native AWS services, purpose-built infrastructure in the edges to meet the goals.
You will also have end-to-end ownership of all aspects of the service life cycle: ideation, design, development, building monitoring and alerting, and then operationalizing the services that you build.
The services that our team built have handled the traffic for several million concurrent viewers during live events like Cricket World Cup, FIFA World Cup, Thursday Night Football, etc. You will learn and incorporate data points to make decisions in building services for future traffic growth.
About the team:
Diverse Experiences: AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn’t followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don’t let it stop you from applying.
