Job Description
The Medical Council are recruiting for a Quality Improvement role within the Education and Training Directorate. This is a 12-month fixed term contract.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality medical education and training across Ireland's continuum of professional development, from undergraduate to specialist levels.
The role reports to the Quality Improvement Manager and collaborates with other directorate teams as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Understand and apply relevant standards, legislation, and frameworks for inspections and accreditations.
* Support daily administrative tasks of significant change programs, including coordinating meetings, liaising with stakeholders, data collection, reporting, and project team support.
* Arrange, schedule, and facilitate meetings, manage attendance, take notes, draft minutes, and complete follow-up tasks.
* Assist management in drafting high-quality, accurate reports and committee papers on agreed timelines.
* Organize, execute, and support specific tasks and procedures in Education and Training, aligned with the business plan and operational policies.
* Compile and distribute information and documentation as required.
* Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements.
* Provide administrative support to the Committee as necessary.
* Prepare briefing papers, research materials, and website content, including data analysis.
* Maintain relevant databases and ICT systems, including document filing.
* Respond to correspondence received via the directorate email or escalate as appropriate.
* Participate actively in continuous improvement within the directorate and any wider organizational projects as required.
* Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.

Essential Criteria:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in an administrative role, including at least 1 year in an organization operating within a statutory framework.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and diary management).
* Experience writing minutes or reports is essential; publishing or sharing such documents with third parties is desirable.
Desirable Criteria:
* A third-level qualification is desirable but not mandatory.
* Project management qualifications and/or project support experience would be advantageous.

Appointment Details:
Position Type: A 12-month fixed-term contract applies to this appointment. A 6-month probationary period is included.
Salary: The starting salary is €33,812, which corresponds to the first point of the Executive Officer PayScale.
Current civil or public servants may have a higher entry point based on their current salary.
Salary increments will occur annually, subject to satisfactory performance, until the maximum point on the scale is reached.
The rate of remuneration will not be negotiable and may be adjusted according to Government pay policy.
Executive Officer PayScale:
€33,812 (starting) - €35,714 - €36,788 - €38,884 - €40,763 - €42,580 - €44,391 - €46,164 - €47,955
€49,696 - €51,492 - €52,692
€54,403 (LS1 after 3 years satisfactory service at the maximum)
€56,127 (LS2 after 6 years satisfactory service at the maximum)
Annual Leave: 23 working days plus public holidays
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: The Medical Council's offices are located at Kingram House, Kingram Place, Dublin 2.
We operate a hybrid working model with remote work and one day of on-site attendance per week.
Pension: The Medical Council offers a pension through the Public Sector Scheme. Contributions to the scheme commence upon joining the organization.
Candidates currently working in the Public or Civil Service may transfer their pension.
