Business Intelligence Engineer, ROW SHARP Research
Amazon India’s Supply Chain Research team is looking for talented Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to develop data solutions for supporting our research products. As part of Amazon India’s Supply Chain & Analytics, our team members have an opportunity to be at the forefront of supply chain thought leadership by working on some of the most difficult problems with some of the best research scientists, software developers, and business leaders in the industry, shaping our roadmap to drive real impact on Amazon's long-term profitability.
As a BIE within the group, you will work closely with program managers, software developers, research scientists, and product managers to analyze massive data sets, identify areas to improve and most importantly work with different stakeholders to drive improvements over time. You will also work closely with internal business teams to extract or mine information from our existing systems to create new analysis, and expose data from our group to wider teams in intuitive ways. As a BIE embedded in the research team you have the opportunity to participate and shape program development as well as leverage your technical skills. This position provides opportunities to influence high visibility/high impact areas in the organization.
This position requires superior analytical thinkers, able to quickly approach large ambiguous problems and apply your technical and engineering expertise to rapidly prototype and deliver solutions. This skill also requires you to work across a variety of teams, including transportation, operations, finance, category, delivery experience, and platform (software) teams. Successful candidates must thrive in fast-paced environments which encourage collaborative and creative problem solving, be able to measure and estimate risks, constructively critique peer research, extract and manipulate data across various data marts, and align research focuses on Amazon’s strategic needs.
Secondary Responsibilities
1. You will design, develop and establish KPIs to monitor analysis and provide strategic insights to drive growth and performance.
2. You will build infrastructure and implement maintenance strategy for internal datasets to support swift analysis to answer critical business questions. You have the freedom to define data extraction tools and dashboards the team should acquire provided you can justify the cost (Amazon frugality!).
3. You will work with large data sets, automate data extraction, to develop self-service automated decision support solutions.
Key job responsibilities
1. You will build BI solutions that help Planning and Operations team across ROW countries for release of Operation plans, labour plans etc.
2. You will be required to design and influence operational best practices for reporting and analytics to enable the team to scale.
3. You will collaborate with stakeholders to implement advanced analytics algorithms that exploit our rich data sets.
4. You will communicate verbally or in writing to business customers / leadership to share insights and recommendations.
5. You will partner with stakeholders and support them in building ETLs, conduct deep dives and participate in building long term Analytics and BI solutions.
About the team
Rest of World (RoW) Supply Chain Analytics, Research and Product (SHARP) team supports supply chain processes for the multiple geographies like IN, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, MENA, AU & SG. The research team works to support network design, labor planning and capacity planning processes through launching decision support tools for planning or execution.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience.
2. Knowledge of SQL and data warehousing concepts.
3. Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
4. Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines.
5. Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as Python.
6. Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
2. Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.
