Role Overview: AA Euro Group have been retained to seek an experienced Piping Mechanical QA Lead to oversee quality assurance processes on a large-scale data centre project.
This is a crucial role focused on ensuring that all piping and mechanical installations meet the highest quality standards and comply with project specifications, codes, and regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in piping, mechanical systems, and quality assurance within large industrial or data centre environments.
Key Responsibilities: Quality Assurance Oversight: Develop and implement the projects quality assurance plan for all piping and mechanical systems.
Ensure that all piping and mechanical installations adhere to approved designs, codes, and industry standards.
Conduct inspections and tests to verify compliance with project requirements.
Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive QA/QC documentation, including test plans, inspection reports, and non-conformance records.
Coordinate and oversee material verification and traceability processes.
Track and report on QA metrics, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
Coordination and Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment with quality objectives.
Interface with client representatives and third-party inspectors to address quality concerns.
Provide technical guidance and training to site teams on QA/QC procedures.
Inspection and Testing: Lead and coordinate inspections, including weld inspections, pressure testing, and system walk downs.
Verify that piping installations meet dimensional, material, and welding requirements.
Monitor hydrostatic, pneumatic, and other mechanical testing to validate system integrity.
Compliance and Standards: Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and project-specific requirements (e.g., ASME, ISO, EN standards).
Manage and oversee resolution of non-conformance issues, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Required Qualifications and Experience: Degree or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in piping and mechanical QA/QC roles, preferably within large-scale industrial or data centre projects.
Strong knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and standards.
Experience with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods and inspection techniques.
Proficiency in interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), isometric drawings, and mechanical schematics.
Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills: Certification in welding inspection (e.g., CSWIP, CWI) or NDT Level II/III.
Knowledge of construction management software and QA tools.
Experience in managing subcontractor quality performance.
