Extrusion Press Operator - 3rd Shift
Essential Job Duties:
Checks production orders and arranges press procedures and drawings. Enters production data into face unit for extrusion.
Checks die assembly and oven times. Loads die into oven by monarail crane.
Operates and adjusts the following equipment as necessary:
Extrusion press.
Billet loader.
Furnace.
Billet shear.
Saw.
Puller.
Head and tail stretcher.
Overhead cranes
Die oven. Adjust equipment when necessary to ensure proper operation.
Responsible for the following variables of extrusion
Checks temperature of furnace, container heat, and die oven heat.
Adjusts extrusion speed.
Adjusts cooling speed.
Puller and stretcher tension.
Carbon blocking for each shape.
Assists with quality assurance through visual observations and makes initial judgment on product quality.
Prepares press for die changes, checks die assembly, and inputs die information into face unit.
Updates press reports with die information, number of billets, weights, number of pieces and performance of each die.
Assist with the training of all new press operator and press crew members.
Education/Experience:
Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Must have at least 2-5 Years of past manufacturing or industrial experience.
Must have the ability to read, write and count.
Must be able to read scale calipers and micrometers and understand the metric system.
Must be able to lift approximately 40-50 lbs.
