Casualty Underwriter Wanted for Global Insurance Company - Dublin City
Abrivia is currently recruiting for an experienced Casualty Underwriter to join a leading global insurance group in their Dublin city centre office. This role offers a hybrid model and reports directly into the Casualty Manager.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in EL and PL, along with working in a broker-facing role. This position involves managing an existing portfolio and growing new business.
Your Role:
* Underwrite new business and renewals in line with established underwriting guidelines and local business plan.
* Assist the Casualty Manager in developing and managing the portfolio, market profile, and producer relationships, including regular interaction with brokers, clients, and business development managers.
* Maintain accurate records and monitor and manage existing policies effectively.
* Operate within the company's ethical and service standards.
* Contribute to formulating underwriting strategies, forecasts, and portfolio management to achieve underwriting profitability.
* Ensure quality control through quantitative underwriting reviews and conducting peer reviews.
* Represent and promote the company to brokers, internal teams, and external clients.
Your Skills:
* In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of Public Liability and Employer's Liability coverage, along with a strong grasp of the insurance market and its competitors.
* Proven experience within a Casualty underwriting environment.
* Experience in managing relationships with clients and brokers.
* Results-oriented with the ability to make independent decisions and work proactively.
* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
* Progression towards CIP/ACII qualifications is advantageous, along with a commitment to continuous development of technical and broader business skills.
