Description
Regional Head of Service for Quality and Patient Safety
Location of Post: Offices HSE Dublin and Midlands. Precise location to be agreed with the successful candidate.
There is currently 1 permanent whole time post available.

The post holder is required to develop, lead and implement the Quality and Patient Safety Strategy across the Region, informed by the HSE Quality and Safety Priorities and Strategies, the HSE National Service Plan, the National Standards for Safer Better Healthcare and other relevant strategies and standards.
The post holder will ensure that appropriate governance structures are in place to manage, monitor and report on the quality and safety of services across the Region.
The post holder will actively contribute to the delivery of quality patient/client centred services and play a key role in supporting and directing the Region towards the achievement of service objectives.
The post holder will drive quality, safety and service improvement strategies in planning, implementation and performance of all Regional services in a standardised manner.
The post holder will be required to support and develop structures, systems and processes across the Region to support the broader quality agenda and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and requirements.
The post holder will be required to support and promote professional development throughout the Region to ensure that we achieve the highest quality of service delivery.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must have at the latest date of application:
Qualification Criteria:
• A relevant professional qualification in a Health and Social Care profession or Nursing and where appropriate statutory registration or professional registration/accreditation.
OR
• A relevant 3rd level healthcare quality qualification i.e. Quality and Qualifications Ireland Level 8 or equivalent.
Experience:
• Extensive experience at a senior management level in healthcare is required in a post that has involved risk management, incident management and investigations as relevant to this role.
• A proven ability to develop, manage and deliver effective Quality & Patient Safety Improvement strategies across one or more roles at a senior management level.
• A record of delivering change, working in a complex environment through strong interpersonal and communications ability.
• Experience of managing and working collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders, as relevant to the role.
• A track record of successful, innovative and strategic leadership and implementation.
• Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Health: A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character: Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
