We are currently recruiting for a Gardener to support the Head Gardener, Assistant Gardener and Executive Head Chefs of the Ashford Estate in producing vegetables, fruits, herbs, edible flowers and micro-greens. The role will have a focus on organic and sustainable methods of producing. With fine dining at Wilde’s Restaurant and a range of activities, it’s also one of Ireland’s top wedding destinations, offering the perfect mix of Irish hospitality and contemporary elegance.Operational Responsibilities: Liaise directly with the Head Gardener in relation to the Estate Gardens. Plant and maintain seasonal plants focusing on organic produceWork with the chefs in planting, maintaining and supplying seasonal vegetables. Mow, trim and fertilize green spaces in line with Sustainability goals. Mulch, edge and weed the gardensMonitor and maintain the health of plantsKeep gardens and green spaces clear of debris and litterPruning, garden maintenance etc as required to maintain the gardens.Operating small farm machinery for ground preparation, lawn mower, strimmer. Coordinate with the gardener the delivery of harvest each morningCoordinate with the gardener to ensure that all machinery and equipment is maintained in an operable and safe condition, reporting any faults to GM/Maintenance. Coordinate with the gardener to ensure the maintenance and adherence to the service logs for maintaining the Estate GardensCoordinate with the gardener to ensure machinery is power washed and cleaned regularly. Maintain clean and tidy maintenance sheds and service and fuel storage areas. Collaborate with the Estate Grounds Team and Maintenance Team. Ensure H&S protocols are followed in the gardens. The ideal candidate will:Possess a good level of plant husbandry skill and horticultural techniques and a pro active enthusiasm for environmentally sound practice. Ability to work on own initiative. Knowledge of local pests, synthetic and natural fertilizers, and health and safety regulations for landscaping. Experience not necessary but advantageous.What's in it for you?
