Your new company
Your new company is one of the pre-eminent hospitality, retail and property groups in the West of Ireland. A company with an entrepreneurial spirit at heart, your new employer has grown and grown over the last number of years and owns/manages some of the most famous landmark bars/restaurants in Galway City and beyond. The company is also heavily involved in numerous industries and businesses, including retail, property development and property management. The company is also ahead of the curve in providing flexible working options for its employees and aims to be as accommodating as possible for its employees, resulting in very high staff retention/low staff turnover rates. There is huge growth potential for the Group who have expanded heavily over the last decade and have major plans for growth in the coming years via acquisition and organic business growth, of which the Financial Contorller will play a central role.
Your new role
Your new role will be as Financial Controller in the Galway City office, leading a team of 3 fully qualified accountants and 3 accounts assistants. You will be ultimately responsible of the financial management of up to 16 entities (most of them non-trading/holding entities), including 5 bars/restaurants and a property management company. You will lead and co-ordinate the month-end process, manage the full audit process across the group, statutory reporting, group consol accounts and present to the Directors on a monthly basis with commentary on financial performance. Aside from the management aspect, there is a huge commercial element to the role, and you will be expected to work with sales managers, procurement managers, general manger and other senior stakeholders to provide budgeting, cost controls, forecasting and other financial consultancy to influence business strategy and decisions.
What you'll need to succeed
You must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) with ideally 10+ years post-qualified experience. You must be able to demonstrate that you have worked on a 'nuts and bolts' financial accounting role in the past as this role involves more 'doing' as well as 'reviewing', preferably in a similarly fast-paced medium-sized organisation. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as excellent attention to detail are pre-requisites for the role. People management experience is required as you will be managing a large team as well as an ability to manage stakeholders across the business to achieve common objectives.
What you'll get in return
You will get a very competitive salary package, in addition to access to a company pension scheme and a bonus structure based around team and company performance. You will also get access to free city centre car parking. Above all, this is an opportunity for an ambitious senior accountant to step into a commercially-focused leadership role and be central to the financial and commercial success of a rapidly growing company. You will also gain exposure to new industries such as hospitality, property development, property management, communications/media as well as other industries the Group may invest in in the future.
