We are hiring at AbbVie North Dublin for a new Associate Director of Technical Operations.
Based in Clonshaugh Business & Technology Park, our AbbVie North Dublin site is a dynamic OSD site with a diverse portfolio of technologies and associated products. This position is accountable for a high level of technology transfer projects while also assuming responsibility for a significant portfolio of marketed product support. Products made at AbbVie North Dublin account for a significant percentage of the global revenue for the wider AbbVie network.
Our site-based AD for Technical Operations leads and manages cross-functional teams spanning Operations, Commercial, and R&D to ensure timely execution of all technology transfer activities and adhered-to site procedures. A broad skill set is required for this role, as the site-based team includes pharmacists, engineers, scientists, statisticians, data scientists, and project management experts.
In addition, the team is responsible for competently and compliantly identifying and executing technological improvements across the site's product portfolio. The group also ensures the site is supply-ready for all associated AbbVie new products following major and regional/local market launches.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead technical fluency with all forms of OSD processes (dry powder blends, encapsulation, wet granulations, hot melt extrusion, compression and coating) and equipment.
* Operate under dynamic conditions and rapidly adapt to evolving priorities and requirements.
* Display strong leadership capabilities and behaviours to engage, develop, manage and communicate with a diverse team of technically focused and specialised individual contributors.
* Deliver OSD tech transfer, process development, process scale-up, and validation.
* Develop team to maintain top-tier technical and regulatory knowledge excellence.
* Champion New technology assessment and implementation.
* Support alternate materials characterisation and qualifications.
* Market & establish product process optimisation and remediation and support continuous process verification.
* Ensure product launch/transfer supply robustness and readiness.
* Manage small-scale manufacturing areas and promote their capabilities across the business.
* Develop and drive the CPV program.
* Interface with regulatory agencies when required.
* Lead department initiatives and projects.
Qualifications
Education and experience we look for:
* BS/MS/PhD qualification in pharmacy, chemical engineering, or related science field.
* Proven experience in leading Pharma R&D and/or Mfg. Technical Services.
* Acute end-to-end experience and understanding of cross-functional roles & responsibilities across the pharmaceutical industry’s development, tech-transfer, and launch phases, including regulatory considerations.
* Strong collaborative analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across commercial, operations, regulatory, and R&D sectors.
* Effectively delegate actions/tasks within a similar Tech Ops team and be resourceful in leveraging external partners (global support, vendors, academia, etc.).
* Ability to see beyond short-term needs and think and plan strategically (5yrs, 10yrs)
* Proficiency in computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Technical expertise in pharmaceutical technology and automated control systems
* Understanding of Minitab and statistical methodologies
