What is the opportunity?
New Ireland has an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to join the Wealth & Insurance delivery teams.
The Solution Architect will take a lead role on the delivery teams, designing solutions that meet our business needs, while also supporting the delivery of these outcomes to our business. As a Solution Architect for the Core technologies team, you will take the lead in the design of change, upgrades, and integration of our Core platforms.
You will work across a range of technologies both on-premise and cloud, as well as working with vendors providing specialist capabilities. In this role, your focus will be on midrange technologies and their integration with the wider technology estate.
In this role you will:
1. Be a New Ireland Technical leader, owning solution designs within the Delivery teams.
2. Contribute to the entire software development life cycle from the initial business requirement phase to deployment and production support.
3. Design, plan, and oversee implementations, working with other team members to ensure the solution is robust, efficient, and balanced.
4. Work with New Ireland partners, reviewing their proposals and implementations.
5. Work with New Ireland parent, Bank of Ireland, to ensure solutions are aligned with Enterprise Architecture.
6. Propose technologies, applications & frameworks, working with wider Technology teams to drive continuous improvement in management of change.
7. Represent Technical solutions with New Ireland Security & Architectural governance.
8. Assist business partners in representing Data in Cloud and on-premise with New Ireland Data governance.
9. Build sound relationships with all customers both within and outside IT, in particular Business and Product Owners.
10. Liaise with other Solution Architects, PM, Product Owner, and Developers to ensure all delivery of robust and high-quality software solutions.
11. Display excellent problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to explain sophisticated problems and solutions to the business including partner management.
12. Interpreting and analysing data, finding trends and patterns to support the most tactical solution.
13. Conduct research on the latest digital trends, technologies, and practices.
14. Work as part of an innovative team, advocating the importance of continuous integration, delivery, and quality assurance.
What will make you stand out?
Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role:
1. Life400 experience is a must-have.
2. Candidates should be highly professional, self-motivated with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Should have the ability to determine cause and devise solutions independently.
3. Experience working as an AS400 Developer in financial services/Insurance is an advantage.
4. Experience working with Agile/Hybrid/Waterfall project delivery models.
5. Experienced in MS Office including Word, Excel, Jira, Confluence, and Visio.
6. Experience and knowledge of organisational change principles, methodologies, and tools.
7. Able to work optimally at all levels in an organisation.
8. Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively.
9. Strong understanding of all aspects of systems implementation and software development life cycles.
10. Experience working with technical and business teams to translate internal and external business needs to drive functional and technical requirements.
11. Practical knowledge of data management and data integration and capacity to conduct data quality control linkage and validation.
12. Experience in all or some of the following would be an advantage: Mainframe, AS400, Cobol, SQL development, IBM Websphere & MSP.
Essential Qualifications
Degree in a relevant IT Qualification.

This role will be a key member of the Core Technology team and will work closely with other Senior Technical/Solutions Architects on principles, standards, and roadmaps. You will contribute to continuous improvements of the wider Technology team.
This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration; exact frequency to be agreed with the manager.
