Assistant Financial Controller
The Assistant Financial Controller will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective running of the finance function within the hotel. This includes managing controls and compliance and ensuring reporting is maintained to a high standard. The role requires providing business acumen to parties both within and outside the finance function to mitigate risks and seize opportunities. The Assistant Financial Controller will partner with the Financial Controller and General Manager, along with other non-financial disciplines, to achieve the overall objectives of the business.
Main Focus Areas Include:
Commercial Focus
* Reviewing costs and implementing processes for savings.
* Working closely with other hotel departments to ensure understanding of KPIs.
* Reviewing margins and identifying areas for improvement.
* Preparation and review of weekly revenue and payroll forecasts.
* Leading involvement in the month-end process.
* Championing weekly/daily meetings and interactions with Heads of Department.
People Focus
* Supporting the Financial Controller and General Manager as a key advisor.
* Assisting in writing and implementing training plans for non-financial managers.
* Helping to enhance understanding of financial issues in conjunction with the Financial Controller.
* Building relationships with Heads of Department and hotel staff.
Controls and Compliance
* Ensuring all financial controls and procedures across the hotel are robust, sustainable, maintained, and updated.
* Examining Internal Audit Reports and agreeing on corrective actions.
* Championing the use of technology for more effective and efficient business operations.
Month End
* Preparing the month-end lead schedule.
* Reconciling balance sheet control accounts, including accruals and prepayments.
* Managing income audit to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
* Engaging with the Shared Service Centre and utilizing technology effectively.
* Managing the timely collection of debts.
