Job Description:
Ability West provides a wide range of high-quality services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and autism across Galway City and County. Services provided include day, residential, short breaks, community supports, rehabilitative training, and multi-disciplinary supports.

The Role:
The Area Service Manager will be responsible for the overall management and development of the services within their region and to ensure efficient and effective management and leadership within the Team.
Responsibilities include:
1. Leadership in the delivery of person-centred, safe, and rights-based services to adults and children in delegated Ability West centres.
2. Contribution towards the planning of service delivery in line with relevant legislation and national standards, e.g., HSE New Directions, HIQA.
3. Management responsibilities with frontline managers across several services.
4. Collaboration and consultation with the Director of Operational Supports and Services and Director of Clinical Supports and Services in planning and implementing services that effectively meet the needs of adults and children availing of services.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A recognised third level qualification in the health and social care area (e.g., Nursing, Social Care, Allied Health Professionals, Managerial, etc.).
2. A minimum of 5 years post-qualified relevant experience, preferably in the area of intellectual disability and/or autism.
3. A proven track record of managing residential, respite, and day services.
4. Knowledge and competency of relevant legislation and current best practices in the delivery of person-centred care, safe and rights-based services.
5. Ability to demonstrate efficient and effective leadership, management, and service improvement skills.
6. A proven track record of budget development and financial management.
7. Experience of using IT packages, system programmes, and report writing.
8. Full current driving license with access to your own vehicle (mileage will be paid at the appropriate rate).
9. Excellent working knowledge of legislative/regulatory requirements as required by the role.
