My client is looking to hire an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their growing team. This client is a well-established manufacturing company based in County Westmeath. It is a permanent role.
The client is looking for someone who has experience working in a manufacturing environment, who is highly organised and is happy to work in a stand alone role.
Responsibilities of a Purchasing Manager:
1. Collaborate closely with the management team to identify parts requirements, place orders, coordinate delivery schedules, and manage logistics to guarantee the timely availability of all necessary components for the production process.
2. Anticipate production needs and oversee the supply chain to maintain optimal stock levels, ensuring efficient deliveries and minimizing lead times to support continuous production operations.
3. Oversee logistics operations and work in conjunction with the company’s freight and customs agents to reduce costs and enhance lead times, while ensuring adherence to all international trade regulations, including import/export laws, customs requirements, and trade agreements.
4. Sustain and strengthen existing supplier relationships, negotiating favorable pricing for production components.
5. Identify and engage new suppliers and source new parts as needed, ensuring the procurement of high-quality materials that meet production standards in terms of cost, order quantities, and delivery timelines.
6. Lead initiatives to promote cost savings across the company’s ordering processes.
7. Ensure that all supplier and parts information is current and accurately maintained in the company’s ERP system.
Requirements of the Purchasing Manager:
8. Degree/Diploma qualified in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement is preferred but not a necessity.
9. A minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in the manufacturing environment
10. Good knowledge of ERP computer systems and MS office
11. Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness
12. Must have excellent communication/negotiation skills.
13. Understanding of supply chain systems and processes
