Position: Clinical Nurse Manager II in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation
Contract: Permanent Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon to Fri)
Salary range: HSE Consolidated pay-scale October 2024
Reporting to: Assistant Director of Nursing
Essential Skills
* Possess a recognised general nursing qualification.
* Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais.
* Have at least five years post-registration general nursing experience most of which has been in an acute general hospital.
* Have experience in Orthopaedic Nursing.
* Have experience working with student nurses in clinical nursing practice or have training experience related to student nurses.
* Be able to demonstrate the ability to do research.
* A degree level education is essential.
* Have demonstrable ability to analyse, report on, and effect change in nursing practice.
* Have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and a high standard of verbal and written communication.
* Completed a Management Course or commitment to undertake a relevant management course.
* Ability to think and plan strategically.
* Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
* Ability to relate effectively and build productive relationships at all levels of a complex organisation.
* Negotiation and influence skills.
* Ability to handle a diverse and challenging workload.
* Ability to analyse complex problems and develop practical solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will carry out the following duties. Please note this list is not exhaustive and additional duties may be required but will be discussed in detail with the line manager.
Job Overview
* As a key member of the front-line management team, the CNM2 will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in Clontarf Hospital.
* The candidate is responsible for the maintenance of a high standard of patient care which is achieved through professional education and development of all nursing staff, acting as an expert practitioner, participating in the formation of organizational objectives linking nursing with its goals, managing resources and facilitating communication.
* The CNM2 will ensure that direct comprehensive nursing care to patients is evidence-based and will lead on service development initiatives in partnership with the ADON.
* The CNM2 will adjust available staffing resources to ensure continuity of care and report to ADON.
* The CNM2 will manage admissions and transfers from all external organisations and direct from the community and in line with dependency levels of current inpatients.
* The CNM2 will ensure the patient is cared for in a safe environment and hygiene standards are maintained.
* The CNM2 will communicate and co-operate with the medical, nursing and all members of the multidisciplinary and other staff teams.
* The CNM2 will liaise with relevant management teams in relation to Cleaning Assistant and Catering Assistants.
