Key Responsibilities 1.
Personal Care & Assistance • Support clients with morning and evening routines, including dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting.
• Assist individuals with mobility, incontinence, and the use of personal aids and equipment.
• Provide compassionate care for individuals who are temporarily unwell, including assistance with feeding and bed care.
• Deliver sensitive and respectful end-of-life care for clients with terminal illnesses.

Emotional & Social Support • Encourage clients' mental and physical well-being through conversation, social engagement, outings, and recreational activities.
• Promote independence and dignity wherever possible.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
3.
Household & Domestic Support • Maintain a clean and comfortable living environment, including making and changing beds, performing light cleaning tasks, and emptying commodes.
• Assist with laundering, inspecting, and minor mending of clients' clothing.
• Support with meal preparation, setting tables, serving meals, and tidying up afterward.
4.
Documentation & Reporting • Accurately record care activities and participate in client care plan reviews.
• Report any significant changes in a client's health or circumstances to the Care Supervisor, Care Coordinator, or Care Manager.
• Ensure client information is updated and effectively communicated to management.

Compliance & Professional Standards • Adhere to all Elm Homecare policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in Ireland.
• Maintain the highest standards of care, ensuring dignity, respect, and a person-centred approach at all times.
• Ensure client safety through accurate recording, observation, and reporting.
General Duties • Deliver the highest quality of care and assistance to clients in line with their Care Plans.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and their families.
• Assist clients with daily activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and eating.
• Support clients with mobility, including moving from bed, walking, and using mobility aids.
• Assist clients with exercise and rehabilitation activities prescribed by healthcare professionals.
• Support nursing staff with wound care, dressing changes, and personal examinations when needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients, contributing to their overall well-being.
Risk Management, Health & Safety • Understand and adhere to Elm Homecare's Health and Safety policies and Emergency and Fire procedures.
• Ensure hygiene and cleanliness of the home environment are maintained to the highest standard.
• Report any illnesses, infections, or accidents involving clients, staff, or self in line with regulations and company policies.
• Participate in fire safety training and evacuation drills.
• Properly handle and store cleaning agents and ensure all safety precautions are followed, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain and properly store all equipment and report any faulty or hazardous items to the Line Manager.
• Follow infection control policies and promote safe working practices.
• Dispose of waste and hazardous materials in accordance with HACCP regulations.
Training & Development • Attend mandatory training sessions, on-site or off-site, as required.
• Maintain professional knowledge and competence in healthcare practices.
• Participate in staff meetings and development sessions.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, the company's safety statement, and HACCP guidelines.
Requirements Qualifications Essential: • Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
Desired: • QQI Level 5 Healthcare Support or a minimum of Care Skills and Care of the Older Person modules (or equivalent).
• Understanding of the scope of practice for social and healthcare professionals.
Experience Essential: • Previous experience in a similar role.
• Familiarity with the National Standards for Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults and Children.
Desired: • Minimum of one year's experience in a healthcare environment.
• Experience in caring for the elderly.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation.
• Understanding of fire and safety protocols.
