Job Title: Paediatric Staff Nurse Department: Paediatrics Location: Carrickmines A full-time, permanent vacancy has arisen for the role of Paediatric Nurse.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, care and treatment of Paediatric patients and their families who are attending the Vhi Paediatric Out-Patient Clinic and to support the consultants and allied professionals who will deliver the service.
The aim will be, to ensure that the optimum standard of care is provided to children less than 16 years within the department.

Acting as an advocate for the child and family ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support.
Co-coordinating, assessing, planning, implementation and review of care for Paediatric patients and their families attending the Vhi Paediatric service according to service standards.
Accurately record the patients history relevant to the clinic.
Performing a set of diagnostic procedures (e.g.
Phlebotomy and ECGs) and comprehensive clinical assessments in order to provide the consultant with the relevant information to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
Working with the administration team to help coordinate from a clinical perspective the administration and triage of referrals in consultation with Consultants and other team members.
Supporting and educating patients and their families in relation to the treatment plan they have been given in the clinic and through follow up phone call as required.
Following all procedures and guidelines to manage laboratory samples safely.
Carrying out safe management of patients results ensuring that results are managed and communicated to the patient and family in a timely manner.
Liaising with GPs and primary care professionals, community agencies and other community resources who contact the service seeking opinion or advice in relation to their patient.
Participating in the design and implementation of new services in collaboration with the Paediatric CNM2 and wider MDT.
Promotion of our service with GPs and development of information packs and open days for relevant groups.
Participating in clinical audits to ensure safe patient care is being provided.
Carrying out Environmental and other IP&C audits and action any QIP identified in conjunction with the Paediatric CNM2.
Adhering to safe practice guidelines as outlined by NMBI professional body.
Working within the QSR framework for H&W to achieve recognised Healthcare standards Adhering to the Vhi H&W Clinic guidelines policies, procedures and protocols in particular those relating to child protection, child safety and Paediatric safe guarding issues.
Participating with the Quality and Risk Manager in relation to the formulation, management and implementation of best practice policies and procedures for VHI H&W Paediatric services Advising senior managers of identified areas of concern and relay measures implemented to mitigate risk/concerns.
Participating in conjunction with the Paediatric CNM2, Clinic Manager and MDT in the reporting, monitoring and management of complaints, support staff as appropriate and instigate corrective action.
Ensure all relevant documentation is completed.
This may involve coordinating response from allied professionals and consultants within the department.
Participating in the internal Clinical Audit Programme ensuring clinical standards are being achieved, whilst implementing improvements where required.
Contributing to the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of patient care within H&W in conjunction with the Paediatric CNM2 / Clinical Governance Team / Director of Nursing / Q&R manager.
Completing all mandatory training as outlined by the training and Education Lead The successful candidate must have: Registered childrens nurse with NMBI (Essential) 5 years postgraduate experience in a general Paediatric setting (Minimum) Experience of a Paediatric Out-Patients Department (Desirable) Paediatric phlebotomy experience (Essential) Experience of the management of children with developmental disorders.
Hold an up to date Basic Life Support for adults and paediatrics.
Ability to act as patient advocate, dealing with all patients and families in a professional courteous manner.
Demonstrate impeccable interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
Promote a culture of openness where good practice can be both challenged and shared to achieve best patient outcomes.
Good knowledge of QSR and Clinical Audit Competent I.T.
