JOB TITLE: Automation & Maintenance ManagerREPORTS TO: Director of Engineering & Program Management ROLE PURPOSE: The role of the Automation & Maintenance Manager is to oversee all installation, day to day running, repair, breakdowns, and upkeep of operations of the company’s equipment & facilities. You will be the one to ensure that your team & department have the best physical resources available to complete their duties according to budget.A competent automation & maintenance manager will have a solid understanding of automation projects, day to day manufacturing & large-scale high-volume manufacturing. Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatics, servo controls as well as other crafts. They will be well-versed in all automation & maintenance processes as well as health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will also have aptitude in undertaking administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, client presentations etc.The goal is to ensure the company machines/equipment/facilities are well-cared for and adequate to support the company’s business operations.Responsibilities:Leading a team of automation engineers, maintenance engineers & technicians.Develop Automation & maintenance procedures and ensure implementation.Vendor & customer management.Leading cost reduction projects across the automation & maintenance department.Carry out regular inspections of machines/facilities to identify and resolve issuesPlan & schedule routine IMM, automation & equipment calibrationsPlan & oversee all preventative maintenance activitiesCheck electrical, pneumatic & hydraulic systems of machines/facilities to ensure functionalityPlan and oversee all repair and installation activitiesAllocate workload and supervise upkeep of staffMonitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessaryMonitor expenses and control the budget for the departmentManage & develop relationships with contractors and service providersKeep maintenance logs and report on daily activitiesEnsure health and safety policies are complied withManage the day-to-day activities, goal setting, performance management, and development of the team.Provide expert knowledge of products and automation solutions to key accounts, with the goal of providing consultative scientific support.Provide technical expertise during regulatory audits as well as face to face interaction with regulatory auditors.Manage all automation projects according to agreed timelines and report on progress.Manage team budget, including travel and expense reporting, as well as operational cost of the Automation projects.Responsible for preparing budget estimates, ensuring adequate PO creation through approval, and recruiting additional resources as necessary.Develop the Automation roadmap for MGS through both internal stakeholder management and external vendor collaborations.Directing automation engineering activities.Mentor team members and provide support for their career development goals. Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automation or equivalent required.Project management qualification required.Lean Six Sigma Qualification required.People management skills leading multi-disciplined teams.Ability to build strong client relationships.Strategic thinking mindset and experience in developing project roadmaps.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Demonstrated capability in both the technical and management scope of this role.Demonstrated experience in developing and empowering employees to achieve success.Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire technical groups.15+ years of relevant engineering experience, pharmaceutical/med-tech preferred.Experience working in a regulated GMP environment.Ability to travel.Demonstrated ability to interact well with peers and across all levels of the organization.MGS are an equal opportunities employer.
