This is a new and highly visible role that requires close collaboration with regional and global GBS and tax teams, and senior leadership. You will take ownership of the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of Pillar 2 compliance processes, including managing the global calculation models, defining key inputs, and monitoring compliance deliverables across multiple jurisdictions. Description
This critical role will lead the setup and management of our compliance processes in response to the introduction of Pillar 2. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that our organization meets the new global minimum tax requirements, while also helping shape our operational compliance framework. Key responsibilities will include:
1. Lead Pillar 2 Compliance Implementation: Own the end-to-end setup of the Apple's Pillar 2 compliance processes, including working closely with global and regional GBS and tax teams, to ensure robust procedures, controls and global consistency.
2. Pillar 2 Calculation Model Ownership: Manage and continuously improve the Pillar 2 calculation models, working closely with Apple's tax organisation to ensure accuracy and alignment with global tax policies. You will be responsible for defining and validating the data inputs and assumptions used in the models.
3. Compliance Framework Development: Develop a sustainable compliance framework, including the creation of standardized processes for data gathering, reporting, and compliance tracking for Pillar 2 obligations.
4. Operational Model Determination: Partner with internal stakeholders to define and implement an operational model for global Pillar 2 compliance, taking into account regional variations and requirements.
5. Collaboration with Global and Regional Teams: Work closely with GBS and Tax leaders and teams across various regions to ensure alignment of local and global compliance processes, facilitate communication of regulatory changes, and advise on local adaptations.
6. Compliance Tracking and Reporting: Oversee the tracking and reporting of compliance deliverables across regions, ensuring timely submissions and resolving discrepancies. Monitor adherence to regulatory deadlines and ensure accurate reporting in financial statements.
7. Process Improvements: Continuously assess and refine compliance processes, finding opportunities for automation, simplification, and cost-effective solutions while maintaining a high standard of compliance and control.
8. Partner Management: Act as the key liaison for Pillar 2 compliance matters, engaging with senior leadership, external auditors, and tax authorities as needed.
9. Training and Communication: Develop training programs and materials.
10. Adaptability and Problem Solving: Ability to navigate evolving tax regulations and provide effective solutions that balance compliance with business needs.
11. Budget Management: Own and monitor the Pillar 2 compliance budget.
Minimum Qualifications
* Qualified Accountant, with 5+ years of post-qualified experience. Strong technical (US GAAP, IFRS, LGAAP) and tax accounting (e.g. Deferred Tax) proficiency is required.
* Meticulous and Organized: Incredibly strong attention to detail with the ability to independently manage and prioritise multiple deliverables and meet ambitious deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Project Management Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale compliance projects, including process design, collaborator coordination, and change management.
* Strong Financial and Analytical Acumen: Ability to manage complex accounting/tax calculation models, interpret large sets of financial data, and provide clear guidance on compliance strategies.
* Collaborative Approach: Experience working across multiple regions and organisational functions, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, build & manage relationships at all levels.
* Problem Solver: Ability to assess complex accounting and tax situations, identify risks, and provide practical solutions that address both regulatory and business needs. Capable of adapting to evolving global tax regulations and quickly responding to new requirements.
* Agility in Ambiguity: Happy to manage uncertainties, especially as global regulations evolve. Capable of making informed decisions in a fluid regulatory environment and adjusting strategies accordingly.
Preferred Qualifications
* Tax qualification, and/or a solid understanding of global tax compliance frameworks, is a strong plus.
* Regulatory Insight: Solid understanding of the evolving global tax landscape, including BEPS initiatives, and the ability to interpret and implement changes to ensure compliance.
* Experience working in a global matrix-organisation.
* Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with finance and tax software (including SAP), automation tools, and reporting systems. Experience with data management, validation, and visualisation tools is a plus.
