The National Gallery of Ireland (‘the Gallery’) is Ireland’s major national cultural institution devoted to the collection and care of fine art. Comprising more than 17,000 paintings, drawings, watercolours, miniatures, prints, sculpture and decorative arts, the institution's extensive holdings include masterpieces by many of the most celebrated figures in the history of western European art.
In addition, the Gallery houses the most representative collection of historic Irish art. Funded mainly by the State, the Gallery employs more than 180 staff and provides free access to the public 361 days a year.
The purpose of the National Gallery of Ireland Gallery Volunteer (‘Gallery Volunteer’) is to play an integral part in supporting staff to deliver a high level of visitor-focused experience, support both Friends membership and the Atrium and Creative Space.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspire an interest in and an appreciation of the National Collection in six key areas:
2. Visitor Experience and Information.
3. Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland (Membership).
4. Atrium and Creative Space.
5. Assisting visitors with the self-service lockers.
6. Assist in organising and welcoming group bookings to the Gallery.
7. Assist visitors with any accessibility requirements.
Salary: This is an unremunerated position.
Volunteer Information Session: 11.30 am – 12.30 pm, Saturday, 18 January 2025.
