Job Description
We are seeking a Basic Grade Medical Scientist-Multidisciplinary to join our Hospital client in Cork, Ireland. As a key member of the laboratory team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the needs of healthcare professionals and their patients.
Responsibilities:
* Participate in the future development of a Laboratory Service that supports the needs of healthcare professionals and their patients and is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of the Laboratory.
* Take part in the clinical service, in collaboration with Consultant and Laboratory Management team, to ensure patient results are delivered to the highest standard in a timely manner.
* Participate and discharge duties required to provide operational services within a multi-disciplinary laboratory/team.
* Maintain professional competency to work in accordance with the laboratory management system and act impartially and ethically in the discharge of duties.
* Observe the strictest confidence when dealing with all aspects of patient information.
* Discharge duties in accordance with laboratory policies and be responsible for the quality of that work.
* Actively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities within the organisation.
* Encourage professional development of staff, through promoting self-learning, formal courses, or formal and/or informal on-the-job training.
* Develop, update, and review policies, procedures, and guidelines for the department.
* Promote good communication within the team.
* Participate in developing and leading the introduction of new ideas and methods aligned to strategic objectives of the organisation.
Requirements:
* CORU-registered Medical Scientist.
* Eligible for membership of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.
* Candidates must be Irish/UK and Portugal educated.
* Evidence of current technical competence and CPD in Blood Transfusion or Haematology or Biochemistry.
* Experience of ISO15189 (essential) and JCI hospital accreditation (desirable).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
