Our client, a leading biopharmaceutical company, is keen to hire an Associate Scientist to join their team in Mayo on a 12-month contract.
Responsibilities of an Associate Scientist
1. Recognize and report experimental variances.
2. Learn and effectively implement new experimental protocols and/or techniques.
3. Maintain laboratory equipment and optimize laboratory operations for efficient use of time and laboratory supplies and reagents, when appropriate.
4. Analyse and critique results, noting significant deviations.
5. Demonstrate technical proficiency in his/her field.
6. Troubleshoot experiments and instrumentation. Impact projects mostly through lab and/or pilot plant-based activities.
7. Apply basic scientific principles to research.
8. Consult literature to understand the scientific purpose of assignments. Impact projects predominantly through lab and/or pilot plant-based activities. Place data in proper scientific context by consulting and citing relevant literature.
Ideal Background:
1. Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education, with typically 6-12 months experience or Master’s Degree or equivalent education (no additional experience).
2. GMP Experience.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Experience with simple chemistry techniques preferable (i.e. pH, osmolality, physical appearance testing).
5. HPLC and/or ELISA experience preferable.
