Occupational Health NurseLocation: Aut Even HospitalJob type: PermanentOverview of role: To support the staff health and safety programme, UPMC Aut Even are looking for a dynamic candidate for the role of Occupational Health Nurse (OHN). The OHN will have day-to-day responsibility for nurse lead pre-employment medicals, health surveillance, immunisations, and health promotion initiatives. They also work collaboratively with Occupational Physicians managing pre-employment healthcare screening and fitness to work reviews. The position holder will also develop and lead a company Wellbeing Programme. This position is part-time, permanent and is based on-site at UPMC Aut Even Hospital.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: ClinicalManage the occupational health service for UPMC Aut Even employees to a high professional standard using an evidence-based approach and strategic planning.Review Pre-Employment Medical Reports and liaise with occupational physicians on any follow up requirements.Carry out health assessments of employees to ascertain their fitness, advise on adaptations, identify higher risk individuals and those who will be working with occupational hazards providing a plan of care considering the individual needs and their roles and responsibilities within their roles.Provide advice and management on any adaptations that may be required based on the risk assessment provided.Identify higher risk individuals who may be more vulnerable to occupational health hazards, such as pregnant staff, and carry out risk assessment, providing recommendations incorporating legislative guidelines.Maintaining a high standard of recording of assessments and treatments including outcomes in complete confidence. Maintaining accurate departmental manual and computerized records.Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics, and legislation.Liaise with the Director of Nursing, Infection Control, Quality Manager, and other Managers where necessary to ensure a high standard of occupational health care for staff at all times.Organisational / AdvisoryEnsuring the health and safety policy is adhered to.Ensure that procedures are in place for keeping records of all referrals to occupational health issues.Ensure professional standards in respect of confidentiality and security are observed.Education and TrainingParticipate in the identification, development, and delivery of induction programmes to health service employees.Engage in performance review processes including personal development planning as appropriate.With appropriate functions, develop and implement employee health & well-being programmes.Develop and deliver training and awareness programmes appropriate to OHS.Health & SafetyProvide input into the development and evaluation of health & safety procedures, emergency procedures to ensure compliance with statutory obligations.Assist in observing and ensuring implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures e.g. health and safety, infection control.Ensure completion of incident / near miss forms / clinical risk reporting.Adhere to department policies for the maintenance and safety of any equipment supplied for the fulfilment of duty.Qualifications & Experience:Be registered in the General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).A minimum of five years of practical experience, three of which are in occupational health.Post-graduate qualification in occupational health.Ability to communicate effectively with staff and in a multidisciplinary team.Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development, training, and research.Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.Equal
