We currently have a vacancy for a Driver with a base out of Cherry Orchard. The van driver will deliver and collect from our stores throughout the country.
This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week.
Shift Times: 8am - 4.30pm
The successful candidate should be available from Monday - Saturday

Overview of Role
Offer every assistance to retail shop teams to increase sales & profits for the benefit of people who are blind and vision impaired, supporting and endorsing the aims and values of the organisation.
Responsibilities
1. Support Vision Ireland Retail shops by collecting and delivering furniture. Ensure that all furniture is safely secured in vehicles and all parts are intact.
2. Support Vision Ireland Retail shops by assisting with furniture assembly & shop displays and removing (to the dump) any rubbish or unsalable furnishings.
3. Maintain assigned vehicle with regard to daily/weekly driver checks.
4. Fully comply with Irish Driving regulations and traffic laws.
5. Comply with the health and safety working practice.
6. Ensure that all vehicles are kept clean and tidy and cleaned out at least once a week.
7. Ensure no VISION IRELAND Retail vehicle is damaged. Ensure the Driver's Assistant always gets out of the van and guides the driver when reversing.
8. Ensure that no violation of the Road Traffic Act is breached when you or other drivers are using VISION IRELAND Retail vehicles.
9. Ensure that verbal and written reports of any damages to vehicles are passed immediately to the line manager.
10. Present a good image and 'face of VISION IRELAND RETAIL' at all times.
11. Be willing to work reasonable additional hours and to perform any other additional duties as and when required to meet the needs of the business.
12. Travel to meetings and training sessions as required.
13. Have basic knowledge of VISION IRELAND RETAIL's structures and current activities.
14. Engage and support fundraising and marketing initiatives.
15. Ensure that all instructions and information received is communicated to van team members and is actioned on a regular basis using the appropriate communication tools.
16. Effectively induct, train, develop and retain van volunteers and help to maximize their potential and ensure they comply with procedures.
17. Keep the van adequately staffed at all times, including holidays, in order to maintain levels of service.
18. Use appropriate communication tools to keep volunteers up to date with VISION IRELAND RETAIL's performance and development.
19. Ensure that volunteers comply with VISION IRELAND RETAIL's policies and procedures with specific reference to the volunteering policy and health & safety.
20. Ensure all documents are completed, (e.g. collection/delivery notes signed, vehicle checklists, mileage sheets, fuel receipts) and returned to the Shop Team daily.
21. Assist in planning the best and most economical routes for collections and deliveries. Work with Shop Teams to ensure an effective time management programme is operated.
22. Ensure all requests for practical help are administered confidentially and via the appropriate channels.
23. Comply with VISION IRELAND Retail van administration procedures (as detailed in the Van Drivers' and Furniture Manuals) and all other directives within agreed timescales.
24. Ensure a satisfactory level of compliance in respect of VISION IRELAND Retail audits and health & safety audits.
25. Ensure vehicles are securely parked and locked each day and that any shutters/gates are locked.
26. Ensure that all VISION IRELAND RETAIL policies and procedures, including equal opportunities, are correctly followed at all times by all team members.
27. Minimize the environmental impact of van activities, ensuring that environmental policies and procedures are followed at all times by all team members.
28. Comply with VISION IRELAND Retail health & safety policies and instructions and report any maintenance or other security/safety concerns to the SMC.
29. Ensure manual handling guidelines are followed at all times by all team members.
30. Carry out all reasonable tasks and requests as assigned by manager/supervisor.
