The Role
The role requires providing advice to the County Council on all matters of local government law, including Property Based Services, Statutory Enforcement, Litigation (including Judicial Reviews), Dispute Resolution, Procurement, Commercial and E.U. law, and general Legal Advisory Services.
Property Based Conveyancing Services involve the buying, selling, and letting of residential and commercial properties, as well as the acquisition of lands required for public infrastructure and other purposes associated with the functions of the Local Authority.
Duties and Responsibilities
* The successful candidate will be responsible for enforcing various regulatory codes, including Control of Dogs, Litter, Waste Management, Dangerous Structures, and Derelict Sites.
* They will also provide advocacy services in Judicial Review, Circuit, and High Court proceedings, as well as file preparation and advocacy services for the Council's Finance Department for debt collection financial recovery.
* The Executive Solicitor will work under the supervision and direction of the Law Agent and may be required to work independently under their own initiative as circumstances demand.
Requirements
* Candidates must have been admitted and enrolled as a Solicitor in the State.
* They must have at least three years' satisfactory experience as a Solicitor, including adequate experience of conveyancing and court work.
* They must possess a high standard of professional training and experience.
