As part of the Network Observability, the Passive Monitoring (NetO-PassMo) mission supports networking teams in maintaining AWS networks' high availability and performance through telemetry collection, near-real-time monitoring, smart visualization, and intelligent alerting. We deliver accurate network telemetry insights that enable identification, localization, and quantification of network impairments to empower operators' rapid remediation. As part of the Passive-Monitoring organization, we own the design, build, and scaling of infrastructure that provides needed telemetry for AWS network and services. We support and contribute to performance monitoring and telemetry collection across all AWS data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring continual access to our customers to the innovations they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the business and seek talented individuals eager to contribute.

Key job responsibilities
* Deploy performance-monitoring infrastructure supporting AWS data centers, retail, Kindle, Payments, and other services.
* Design, deploy, scale, and automate infrastructure across global data centers, including new locations.
* Drive scaling of monitoring designs to meet internal/external demands.
* Collaborate with internal teams to bring designs from concept to production.
* Maintain infrastructure standards, ensuring design, patching, and performance compliance.
* Implement infrastructure changes and work with automation teams to scale solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's Degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience
* 3+ years of professional experience in large-scale networking environments
* Experience with internet routing protocols: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF; network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos
* Experience in Linux/Unix environments and automation scripting with Bash/shell and Perl/Python
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Knowledge of network analysis fundamentals and troubleshooting skills, especially network performance analysis
* Experience diagnosing and resolving network problems with customers
