Role Title: Registered Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Osteoporosis and Bone Health The purpose of this role is to deliver specialist nursing care in line with the five core concepts set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist posts (4th edition), National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM), 2008. Clinical Nurse Specialists within the service require specialist knowledge in the management and care of this specialist patient cohort. The CNS will lead and develop nurse led clinics in bone health, falls, and osteoporosis. They will require the ability to develop specialist knowledge in bone health and gerontology in order to provide comprehensive assessment and management of patients. This CNS role will have six principle functions based on the core concepts of the role of the CNS as defined by the National Council for Nursing and Midwifery in Ireland; clinical practice, audit and research, advocacy, advice and consultation, education and training, and research.
