Job Summary
The Senior Credit Control Officer will be responsible for assisting and reporting to the Credit Control Manager in relation to managing, monitoring, and improving the credit control processes within Capital Credit Union. This role will involve delivering exceptional service to members through all mediums and supporting the implementation of formal credit control policies and procedures of the Credit Union.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deputise, as required, for the Credit Control Manager to ensure timely collection of overdue accounts.
* Proactively engage with members to resolve any payment issues and negotiate repayment terms. Exercise judgement on individual loan accounts and make recommendations as to the appropriate actions in respect of these.
* Conduct regular reviews of member accounts, identifying potential risks and implementing appropriate solutions.
* Attend meetings and report on assigned areas of responsibility as required, or requested by the Credit Control Manager.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit policies and regulations to ensure compliance.
* Collaborate with other departments, such as Risk and Compliance, to ensure consistent adherence to internal policies and procedures.
* Provide guidance and training to junior credit control staff.
* Assist in the development and implementation of new credit control procedures and systems.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
* A QFA qualification is essential, but candidates who are close to achieving the QFA qualification will be considered, and it will be a requirement to obtain the QFA in the role.
* Proven experience (2+ years) in credit control, preferably within a financial services environment.
* Strong understanding of credit risk management and collection techniques.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with members.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in using credit control software and MS Office applications.
