Head of Project Management

BnM has a need for a Head of Project Management who will be responsible for establishing and leading the Project Management Office (PMO) overseeing a diverse portfolio of renewable energy infrastructure projects, including wind (onshore and offshore), solar, flextech, peatland rehabilitation, and public good projects. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring effective governance, coordination, and delivery of projects from concept through to commissioning, prior to hand-over to Asset Management & Trading, aligned with business strategy and regulatory requirements.
Reporting directly to the Head of Renewables, the role requires strong leadership, programme and project management expertise, as well as strong commercial acumen and an ability to work collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams including planning, commercial, engineering, procurement, grid, finance, and legal. The role will involve establishing and deploying a team of high performing programme and project managers to lead the delivery of the key projects in BnM’s development pipeline, including management of programme budgets and resourcing plans across all projects to ensure optimal delivery performance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership
o Establish and lead the PMO function, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and the Stage Gate process for project delivery.
o Develop and implement project delivery frameworks, processes, and governance structures that support scalable and efficient execution of major infrastructure projects.
o Drive a culture of accountability, performance excellence, and continuous improvement across the PMO team.
* Programme & Project Oversight
o Oversee the full lifecycle of all assigned renewable energy infrastructure projects and associated projects—from early-stage development through construction and handover to Asset Management & Trading.
o Establish the standards for wider project management in the company on other areas (such as peatland rehab and public good).
o Ensure robust planning, risk management, and resource allocation across programmes.
o Manage interdependencies across projects, resolving conflicts and ensuring optimal sequencing and resource utilisation.
* Budget & Resource Management
o Develop and manage multi-year programme budgets in collaboration with finance and project managers.
o Monitor capital and operational expenditure against forecasts, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely identification of variances.
o Lead the development and maintenance of integrated resource plans, ensuring the right skills and capacities are in place across the project portfolio.
o Ensure alignment between project delivery schedules, resource needs, and procurement strategies.
* Stakeholder Engagement
o Act as the key interface between the PMO and internal service providers including planning, engineering, procurement, grid, commercial, finance, and legal teams.
o Represent the PMO in senior leadership forums and with external stakeholders including regulators, partners, and suppliers.
o Ensure effective stakeholder communication, reporting, and governance at all stages of the project lifecycle.
* People Management
o Ensure that employee Health and Safety is a priority for all activities.
o Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing PMO team, ensuring capability development and succession planning.
o Set clear objectives and performance metrics for the PMO team, fostering a collaborative and high-achievement culture.
o Promote diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement.
* Performance Management & Reporting
o Define and manage KPIs for project delivery performance across all dimensions—time, cost, quality, scope, and risk.
o Provide regular and insightful programme reporting to senior executives and governance bodies.
o Ensure that learnings from project delivery are captured and embedded in future project execution approaches.
The Person
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge, and attributes:
* Education & Qualifications
o Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline. Professional certification in Project or Programme Management (e.g., PMP, MSP, PRINCE2) desirable.
* Experience
o Minimum 10+ years of experience in project and programme management within the energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
o Proven leadership experience managing large, cross-functional teams and complex project portfolios. Demonstrated experience in budget management and resource planning at both a programme and project level, including engagement with main contractors, OEMs, and service providers. Strong understanding of the renewable energy landscape in Ireland and/or internationally.
o Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure in Ireland.
o An ability to engage with key stakeholders including Government Departments & NewEra as necessary to drive project pipeline forward.

o High proficiency in project management methodologies and tools, with a focus on delivering projects on time and within approved budgets.
