Electrical Engineer - Renewable Energy - Ireland
Eden Scott are currently supporting their renewable energy consultancy client to appoint an Electrical Engineer into their Ireland operation. This represents an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Engineer with experience in either High Voltage, Substations, Grid or Grid scale Renewable energy projects to join their team.
Our client has offices in Castle Brae and Dublin, and the team typically works from the office once or twice per month. The Electrical Engineers in the team are typically conducting site visits once or twice per week. As such, there is ample opportunity for home working.
The company has a portfolio of projects spanning Wind, Battery Storage (BESS), and Solar with projects all over Ireland. All projects are grid scale renewable energy focused.
The successful applicant will: provide electrical engineering services on a consultancy basis supporting client requirements to achieve the objectives of individual renewables projects; lead electrical technical interfaces; and grow, develop, and consolidate the organisation's pre-construction and construction phase service provision.
Projects include onshore wind, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), grid projects, and a variety of other associated and evolving technologies.
While specific experience working in the renewables sector is not a pre-requisite, it is a very desirable attribute for applicants to the role.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
1. Provide electrical engineering advice and grid consultancy services to clients regarding costs, timelines, and technical aspects of grid connections and renewable generation technology.
2. Preparation and submission of grid connection applications and modifications as part of new renewable project developments.
3. Ensure technical aspects and electrical infrastructure associated with wind farms, solar PV plants, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects are designed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with employer's requirements and contractor's specifications.
4. Ensure contestable grid connection infrastructure is designed, installed, and commissioned in accordance with system operator functional specifications.
5. Act as Single Point of Contact (SPoC) in managing design review process with DSO's, TSO's, and other grid authorities.
6. Provide technical support to the organisation's Project Manager / Owner's Engineer to assist with project delivery.
7. Assist with the preparation of specifications and employer's requirements for solar EPC contracts (solar and BESS), turbine supply agreements, electrical balance of plant, and contestable grid connection work packages.
8. Review technical aspects of electrical and grid connection infrastructure, both via documentation and on-site, to ensure that any risks to operation, compliance, and operational lifetime are identified and mitigated.
9. Attend site meetings and undertake site visits to inspect electrical works and prepare snagging lists.
10. Facilitate and manage grid code compliance testing processes.
11. Work with the organisation's Advisory team to provide technical due diligence advisory services to renewable energy developers, asset owners, and investors.
12. Keep abreast of grid connection and renewable energy policy and technology developments.
13. Manage designers and specialist subconsultants as may be required.
Requirements
1. Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering.
2. Demonstrate a broad knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering, grid, and project management principles.
3. Knowledge of medium and high voltage networks, infrastructure, and protection methodologies.
4. Experience of medium and high voltage networks, infrastructure, and protection.
Salary and Benefits:
1. 50,000 EUR to 84,000 EUR Dependent on Experience.
