Job Function
The Technical Engineering Lead - Tooling will project manage, lead, and support third-party manufacturers to deliver robust injection moulding solutions. This includes defining, selecting, specifying, purchasing, installing, and qualifying plastic injection moulding, metrology, processing equipment according to internal and external regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with applicable corporate and divisional policies and procedures.
* Lead design/specification, purchase, installation, and qualification of mould tools, moulding machines, ancillary equipment, and service requirements.
* Understand business needs and customer/clinical requirements as they relate to projects.
* Demonstrate strong accountability/responsibility for successful and timely completion of designated project deliverables.
* Design and lead complex experiments, executing tasks by applying novel engineering theories, concepts, and techniques.
* Work closely with project teams and third-party manufacturers to ensure required support is provided to meet project objectives.
* Develop metrology methods, conceptualize complete solutions, and create/design solutions for novel or complex problems.
* Serve as subject matter expert/independent technical expert on project technical matters.
* Responsible for completing documentation in a timely manner and in accordance with business standards.
* Comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the Quality System.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (preferably in Polymer Engineering, Polymer science) or equivalent technical experience and demonstrated competence required.
* Typically requires 8+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience to develop the necessary skills and responsibilities.
* Expertise in Plastic injection moulding technologies, mould tool designs, and process development in third-party manufacturing environments.
* Effective communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
* Problem analysis, fault finding on injection mould tools and equipment.
* Design of experiments for plastic injection moulding process development.
* Good level of engineering, validation, and process development knowledge.
* Risk analysis with sound understanding of FMEA process.
* Able to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.
* Strong understanding GD&T and design of metrology fixtures.
* Able and aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software.
* Strong organizational and project management skills in third-party manufacturing environments.
* Able to quickly gain knowledge, understanding, or skills and is willing to learn.
* Prior experience analyzing First Article Inspection (FAI) and process capability data.
