The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Business Development Consultant to join our busy Marketing, Communications and Business Development (MCBD) team based in one of our European offices. The successful applicant will enjoy working in a fast-paced, international, and creative environment, on varied tasks from stakeholder and event management to internal and external communications. As part of the wider MCBD team, this role works with our client-facing staff to encourage the adoption of best-practice processes around their clients and markets.
As a Business Development Consultant at Arup, you will:
* Work directly with Business leaders and client relationship managers to help them to set their business direction, form strong client relationships and win work.
* Assist in preparing and reviewing client and business plans to support our business development activities.
* Serve as a strategic advisor to Business leaders and other stakeholders, understanding client needs, objectives, and growth plans.
* Implement client development initiatives and ensure successful implementation to drive increased engagement and satisfaction.
* Challenge business partners on the delivery of short-term objectives and drive progress toward long-term client vision.
* Utilise expertise and industry knowledge to steer research projects and thought leadership initiatives that add value to our clients.
* Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor analysis, and client needs to drive strategic decision-making.
* Oversee the planning and execution of key Client events, ensuring client engagement and relationship building.
* Support the management of our client data using a Client Relationship Management system (Microsoft Dynamics).

We're looking for someone who is passionate about Business Development. We also value:
* A third level degree in Business or Marketing.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Confidence in public speaking and communication.
* An ability to work on their own initiative and to tight deadlines.
* An ability to think creatively and laterally over a wide range of issues and manage several projects at the same time.
* Strong IT skills in basic packages; knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Dynamics would be an advantage.
* Strong administration, planning/organisation, and time management skills.
* An ability to work as part of a team.
* Prior experience in professional services would be an advantage.
