Dairygold Co-Operative Society Limited is now pleased to invite applications for the position of Laboratory Technician in the Milk Testing Laboratory in Mallow.
Reporting to the Lab Manager/Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for testing samples accurately in a timely manner and reporting results using the IT systems provided.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out chemical and microbiological testing.
2. Perform tests as directed by the core milk schedule.
3. Contribute to the effectiveness and improvement of the quality management system.
4. Comply with the requirement of the ISO 17025 standard as defined by procedures.
5. Complete all day to day activities as allocated by the laboratory manager/supervisor.
6. Maintain test equipment to ensure its continuing fitness for purpose.
7. Calibration of laboratory equipment and involvement in the set-up, validation and running of new laboratory equipment, including new techniques.
8. Provide internal and external customers with a first-class level of service.
9. Provide training to other laboratory personnel when and if required.
10. Maintain the currency of all test logs.
11. Receive check samples (non-payment) into the laboratory.
12. Use of all software systems including Microsoft Word and Excel.
13. Utilise IT technology and Dairygold systems to record results.
14. Actively participate in continuous improvement activities including but not limited to 5S implementation, auditing, work groups, PSE.
15. Carry out internal audits of laboratory systems.
16. Where applicable maintain Quality control charts to verify accuracy of testing/instrumentation.
17. Maintain housekeeping levels within the laboratory.
18. Adhere to the Health & Safety requirements of the Society.
We want to hear from you if you have:
1. Recognised Science qualification.
2. Experience in Food/Drinks/Pharmaceutical or Environmental Laboratory is desired.
3. Experience in Chemical and Microbiological analysis is desired but not essential.
4. Computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word or other MS packages.
5. Experience in working as part of a team.
6. A positive, can-do, resilient and flexible attitude.
7. Understanding of Customer service.
