The Procurement Buyer (Tendering) will be responsible for delivering exceptional category management services for Construction Products Ireland (CPI), ensuring a safe, cost-effective, and sustainable supply of products and services. This role supports the Indirect Procurement requirements of CPI, providing a professional, efficient, and compliant procurement service that aligns with organizational goals.
This role is located in Kingscourt, Co.Cavan.
Key Responsibilities

Category Management
* Identify and execute opportunities for managed spend categories, focusing on minimizing risk and maximizing value.
* Oversee the effective delivery of tenders and procurement activities, optimizing cost, contractual obligations, and technical quality.
Market Understanding
* Analyze and anticipate key market drivers and trends, developing strategies to respond to changing procurement landscapes.
* Work closely with category managers to define and adapt procurement strategies.
Project Management
* Participate actively in cross-functional projects, supporting strategic objectives such as risk reduction, innovation, and cost efficiency.
* Collaborate with colleagues to ensure successful project outcomes and stakeholder satisfaction.
Sustainable Procurement
* Ensure alignment with the Group Sustainable Purchasing Program, focusing on environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing.
* Support the company’s commitment to achieving carbon net-zero by 2050 through sustainable supplier partnerships and compliance with CSR policies.
Business Controls
* Adhere to internal business controls to maintain a consistent, compliant procurement service that meets organizational standards.
Stakeholder Management
* Build and sustain relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Professional Services, Legal, EHS, and Accounts teams, to align procurement efforts with broader business objectives.
* Engage with external suppliers and audit bodies to foster strong partnerships and ensure compliance.
External Benchmarking
* Stay informed on best practices and emerging trends in procurement by engaging with industry networks and professional associations.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Essential
* Working towards MCIPS Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional qualification.
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in procurement or related field.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to process and apply data.
* Proven experience in direct and indirect category management.
* Flexibility in managing diverse spend categories, with transferable skills to identify opportunities and resolve issues.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Effective problem-solving capabilities and negotiation skills.
* Familiarity with contract law and its application in procurement.
* Experience in managing cross-functional projects and building business relationships.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and make informed decisions based on analytical insights.
Desirable
* Project management and negotiation training.
* Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
Communications and Working Relationships
Internal:
* Collaboration with UK & Ireland Procurement Director, Procurement Managers, and other key roles within the procurement team.
* Engagement with Head of Indirect Procurement, Head of Direct Procurement, Head of Sustainable Procurement, and Supplier Development team.
* Coordination with Professional Services, Legal, EHS, Accounts, and HR teams.
External:
* Regular interaction with suppliers and external audit bodies to ensure compliance and foster effective partnerships.
