Purpose of the position
We are seeking an experienced Quality Technician to join Hiab's team in Dundalk. The role will involve carrying out material inspection duties to ensure evidence based decision making on critical material supply. Supporting the Quality team in improving supplier performance for nonconforming material. Supporting development of product and process quality. The new Quality Technician will be the leading voice of customer quality within the assigned value stream. The vacancy if full time and with a permanent contract.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Safety :
● Ensure that all operations carried out are completed in a safe and effective manner.
● Be proactive with own Health & Safety and that of others around them.
Quality :
● Carry out incoming material (PPAP / QAP / ECO) inspections as required.
● Document all inspection activity with full traceability of inputs and decision-making.
● Support root cause analysis and corrective action of supplier, internal & customer quality issues as required.
● Approve and follow up of In-house technical claims to supply base.
● Act as the quality lead for assigned value stream(s).
● Support the continuous improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS).
Delivery :
● Ensure timely delivery of inspection tasks.
● Conduct internal QEHS and 6S audits as required and close out corrective actions.
● Update daily SQDIP boards with quality metrics.
Inventory :
● Raise NC claims on suppliers in a timely manner and ensure MRB meetings carried out as required.
● Ensure material is promptly transacted to the correct warehouse(s) and discrepancies resolved to maintain inventory accuracy.
● Support Quality warehouse cycle counts and value confirmation.
Productivity :
● Ensure inspection material is scheduled ant prioritised as appropriate.
● Follow up of internal quality defects and coordination of corrective actions accordingly (A3, 8D).
People :
● Support the Value Stream teams and SQDIP model in day-to-day activities to ensure compliance to Quality & Schedule requirements.
● Bring to life each day our HIAB values and demonstrate these behaviours on an ongoing basis.
What you’ll need to succeed
Education:
● Relevant third qualification (preferably in a mechanical discipline) or significant relevant experience in a similar role.
Experience:
● Minimum three years’ experience in a quality engineering function with strong experience from a mechanical industry and assembly operations perspective.
Competencies:
● Significant experience in the use of inspection measuring tools (CMM), Height gauge, Vernier, Micrometre etc.
● Clear understanding of technical drawings.
● Strong technical understanding of manufactured products and functionality.
● Confident Microsoft office or Google suite user.
In addition, the following would be of distinct advantage:
● Previous experience with load handling / hydraulic machinery.
● Experience in the use of Quality Tools, Histogram, Pareto etc.
● A working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Statistical Analysis, Quality problem solving and continuous improvement techniques.
● Good understanding of ISO QEHS Management system standards (9001 / 14001 / 45001)
● Good communication and co-operations skills with internal and external parties.
● Proactive and data driven.
● Analytical approach and strong attention to detail.
