Senior Quantity Surveyor – Ireland

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager with recent experience in the Irish market to join our team at a major construction company based in Dublin.
This tier-one organization has expanded into a diversified firm working with several prestigious clients across various sectors, including building, civil engineering, demolition, land remediation/restoration, sports & leisure, and rail.
The successful candidate will lead and manage the commercial aspects of large-scale projects within Ireland, the UK, or Europe, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and client satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Manage a team of quantity surveyors to oversee all commercial aspects of projects
* Monitor project costs and ensure budgets are achieved
* Negotiate with clients to agree on final accounts while maintaining business relationships
* Collaborate with project managers to meet business objectives and protect the company's commercial interests
* Review project deliverables during the design stage to minimize risks and ensure project success
* Prepare tender queries, reports, and sub-contract packages
* Generate progress applications, cost reports, and monthly management accounts
* Provide regular financial updates on project progress to management
* Assess and negotiate main contracts, managing commercial risks with clients
* Participate in company management and support the area manager in commercial assurance
* Forecast project margin performance, identify potential issues, and manage cash flow
* Ensure accurate and reliable reporting on all projects
* Maintain compliance with contract schedules and provide weekly reports on planned vs. actual progress
Necessary Requirements:
* Certificate or degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics
* Strong technical background in contracting and proven track record in quantity surveying fundamentals
* Experience with GCCC form of contract is advantageous
* Excellent operational skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities
* Minimum 10 years' experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager in Ireland or the UK
* Experience leading the commercial function on large, complex projects exceeding €30 million
* Good presentation, general management, and negotiation skills
