Due to unprecedented demand and supporting KPMG's global commitment to investing € in developing ESG advisory capacity from 2022-2025, KPMG Sustainable Futures is currently looking for an experienced Senior Manager / Associate Director in our Nature and Land Use unit.
As a key member of our unit, your work will focus predominantly on engagements related to nature, biodiversity and land use across the public and private sectors. However, your work will also intersect with wider engagements on climate risk, sustainable finance, ESG transformation and responding to market and regulatory drivers such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Report Directive (CSRD), TNFD Disclosures and Transition Planning.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nature and biodiversity professional looking to make an impact and drive the transition to a nature positive and net zero economy.
A snapshot of your peer group:
1. Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university, and ideally a Master's degree in nature and biodiversity related subject areas.
2. You have min 7+ years of professional experience (incl. consulting) with a focus on nature and biodiversity, natural capital and ecosystem services and related areas.
3. You have thorough knowledge of and access to, important nature and biodiversity standards, networks, and alliances.
4. You have a passion for sustainability and ESG and are experienced at translating complex topics for non-technical audiences and clients. You understand the science and the intersectionality of nature loss, climate change and a Just Transition.
5. You are analytical and comfortable working with data and numbers.
6. You can work autonomously and are able to develop the market through networking and prospecting (commercial mindset).
7. You know business and have a strong understanding of key sustainability trends in Ireland and the EU, from reporting regulations to public commitments and the impacts of nature loss and climate change on corporate entities ( EU CSRD, TNFD, SBTi and SBTN).
8. Excellent project management skills, including developing and overseeing the successful execution of project plans, budgets, deliverables and billing.
9. Confident in ESG report writing and qualitative research and analysis
10. Ability to think strategically, break down complex problems and communicate them with ease both in oral and written communication. You are comfortable presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.
11. Demonstrate confidence in conducting independent work and pride for excellence and quality.
12. Demonstrate growth mindset, ambition to develop professional knowledge and skills with a steep learning curve.
13. You know how to coach and mentor junior people in the team in an inclusive and collaborative way.
Your responsibilities and achievements will evolve as you enhance your career with us. Here is what you can initially expect:
14. Supporting the delivery of client work through exceptional project management; conducting research on clients, industries, and markets trends; analysing client documentation and identifying improvement opportunities; synthesising research findings into key themes and analysing information to develop conclusions; preparing client deliverables, such as written reports, presentations, or spreadsheet models; and leading client meetings and workshops.
15. Projects will focus on the full scope of nature, biodiversity and land use related topics: from assessing impacts and dependencies, to identifying risks and opportunities, setting strategies and applying reporting recommendations. Technical expertise on nature and biodiversity in one of more priority sectors (, agri-food, finance, energy, infrastructure) is highly desireable
16. You will sit within the Nature and Land Use unit of Sustainable Futures, but we are a multi-disciplinary team working on multi-disciplinary projects. You will need to work closely with subject matter experts across climate risk, decarbonisation, sustainable finance, circular economy, ESG strategy, supply chain, human rights, reporting, etc. within KPMG Ireland but also across our global network.
17. Application and ongoing development of KPMG tools and methodologies. Developing thought leadership and market shaping solutions.
18. Taking responsibility for projects, working either independently or leading a small team, structuring their work, conducting reviews, providing feedback and reporting on progress to the project leaders
19. Leading or assisting in business development and marketing and supporting the development and growth of service lines.
20. Continuous professional development, keeping up to date on relevant topics and skills via training courses organised by the KPMG Business School.
21. Developing strong relationships with internal colleagues and our clients.
22. People management: you will coach your project teams, work across different KPMG service lines and you will be contributing to the development of the Nature & Land Use unit (coaching, mentoring and training more junior team members in a collaborative and inclusive way).
