In your role, you will collaborate with the local research teams, other European research centers, and other engineering teams spread across the globe.About the IRCHuawei Ireland Research Centre (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and a global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions. To achieve this we are building an industry-recognized multi-discipline Research Centre of experts with focus on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.

Lead foundational technical initiatives across our growing cloud infrastructure.
Design Huawei Cloud's hybrid optical-electrical data center network solutions, focusing on improving hyperscale distributed traffic engineering and topology engineering.
Collaborate on designing, building, and maintaining scalable network infrastructure across cloud environments.
Evaluate and adopt new technologies to enhance the reliability and scalability of cloud network solutions, including traditional DCN networks, AI networks, and WAN networks.
Define and conduct programs to optimize networks, reduce network TCO, and enhance reliability and flexibility.
Develop strategic plans to improve network quality, efficiency, and cloud service delivery.
Publish key findings in relevant conferences and journals or apply for patents as appropriate.
Requirements
8+ years of experience with a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer science or related fields.
Hands on experience in design, deployment, and operation of cloud scale data center networks.
Deep understanding of Elastic Optical Networks (OXC/OCS) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) basics.
Experience in coding or scripting in at least two high level programming languages (e.g.: C, C++, Python, Go, Rust).
Exceptional communication skills including the ability to negotiate around deeply technical topics with senior business leaders.
Optional: Hands on experience working with AWS, Azure or GCP services.
Optional: Experience in a specific networking domain such as traffic engineering (MPLS, congestion control, load balancing), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, ISIS), topology Engineering (MTR), data center network solutions (CLOS, Dragonfly+), or open-source network operating systems (SONiC, ONL).
