Quantity Surveyor This role is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor with a strong grounding in cost management and contract administration who aspires to step into a project management role. The successful candidate will initially focus on quantity surveying responsibilities while gaining the experience and mentorship needed to transition into project management. You will be exposed to various aspects of project coordination and leadership, providing you with a well-rounded foundation to advance your career within our company. Key Responsibilities: Cost Management: Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost estimations; analyze project costs and provide cost-saving solutions. Contract Administration: Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contract terms, conditions, and industry standards. Tendering and Procurement: Lead the preparation, submission, and analysis of tender documents; negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure best value. Risk Management: Identify potential financial risks and implement effective mitigation strategies. Client & Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a point of contact with clients and stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and ensuring satisfaction with project progress and cost efficiency. Transition to Project Management: Collaborate with project managers to develop an understanding of project timelines, resource allocation, team coordination, and site management. Mentorship & Development: Work alongside senior project managers to develop essential skills in project leadership, scheduling, and stakeholder management. Skills & Qualifications: Educational Background: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline. Experience: 3-5 years of experience working with a main building contractor, ideally with a mix of commercial and residential projects. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., RIAI, FIDIC) and familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). Project Management Aspirations: A clear desire to progress to a project management role, with evidence of proactive development in relevant areas. Key Competencies: Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with an ability to work effectively within a team and independently when required.
