This role is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance and optimization of Dublin Airport's Medium Voltage (MV) electrical infrastructure.
This includes ensuring safety, reliability, compliance, and efficiency of MV systems to support uninterrupted airport operations.
The role is critical for managing current and future infrastructure demands, supporting sustainability initiatives, and fostering operational resilience.

Operational Management MV Systems Oversight: Manage the MV electrical distribution network, including substations, switchgear, transformers, and associated control systems.
Ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical airport operations.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs for MV systems.
Lead fault diagnosis, repairs, and restoration processes in case of failures.
System Optimisation: Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and reliability of the MV network.
Support the integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage solutions.
Safety and Compliance Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all MV systems comply with local and international safety standards, codes, and regulations.
Conduct regular audits and safety inspections.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain contingency plans for MV system failures.
Train staff on emergency response protocols and best practices.
Project Management and Strategy Infrastructure Upgrades: Act as the business owner and lead out with infrastructure on projects involving the upgrade or expansion of MV systems to meet increasing operational demands.
Collaborate with stakeholders on master planning and infrastructure development.
Contractor and Vendor Oversight: Supervise contractors and vendors performing work on MV systems.
Ensure quality control, compliance, and adherence to agreed timelines and budgets.
Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate records of MV systems, including as-built drawings, maintenance logs, and asset registers.
Integration of new projects with existing site CCMS systems and drawings and records department.
Leadership and Development Team Support: Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians in MV systems operations and maintenance.
Lead cross-functional teams to address complex issues and implement improvements.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with airport operations, infrastructure teams, and regulatory bodies to align utilities management with organizational goals.
Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for MV utilities within the airport.
Sustainability and Innovation Energy Efficiency Initiatives: Support the airports sustainability goals by identifying and implementing energy-saving measures in MV systems.
Contribute to carbon reduction projects and renewable energy integration.
Work closely with the infrastructure teams on the development of Dublin Airport's Micro-Grid requirements to meet future demands.
Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility infrastructure management, with a focus on MV systems.
In-depth knowledge of MV electrical distribution networks, including protection systems, transformers, and switchgear.
Professional certification in energy management (e.g., CEM) or related field is preferred.
Experience with renewable energy systems (solar, battery storage) and microgrid technology is an advantage.
Familiarity with SCADA systems, power monitoring tools, and related technologies.

Education & Qualifications Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
Relevant MV systems certifications (e.g., IEC/IEEE standards compliance, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety certifications).
Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is desirable.
