Summary
This new role has been created to support Everest’s rapidly growing International Insurance business. The role holder will support a varied and dynamic range of initiatives within the risk management function as Everest seeks to continually enhance risk management as an integral part of the International Insurance expansion strategy. The successful candidate will possess relevant industry experience, excelling analytical skills, solid experience implementing best practice risk frameworks, excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and excellent influencing skills.
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the role holder will focus on quantitative insurance and financial risk, including pricing, reserving, exposure management, ceded reinsurance, stress & scenario testing, investment, solvency and liquidity risks.
Collaborating with, and influencing, senior colleagues across multiple functional areas and international Everest offices, this role will have a high profile. As part of a rapidly growing business division, the role holder will have the opportunity to shape this role and the future development of the risk function. The successful candidate will provide risk-based insights to support Everest in making the right business and strategic decisions.
The role requires significant experience within the non-life insurance sector and in-depth understanding of non-life insurance and financial risks. The role holder will be self-motivated and well-organised and able to manage and prioritise a broad range of activities in the context of a rapidly growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Promote continuous enhancement of Everest risk culture.
2. Provide independent oversight of quantitative risks including
Insurance risk:
Pricing
Reserving
Exposure management
Ceded reinsurance
Financial risk:
Solvency
Investment
Liquidity
3. Lead, develop, implement and embedding an increasingly sophisticated risk management framework, to manage the risks above.
4. Oversee and develop quantitative risk appetites.
5. Risk function review and challenge of annual financial plan.
6. Co-ordinate and challenge modelling aspects of ORSA (modelling is carried out in first line).
7. Undertake deep dive reviews of selected risks within remit.
8. Work in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders spanning senior leadership, department heads, and first line subject matter experts to provide risk management advice, support, oversight and challenge.
9. Attend relevant management committees.
10. Produce risk management papers and reporting for Management, Risk Committee and Board, as required.
Competencies, skills and experience:
11. Extensive knowledge and understanding of quantitative non-life insurance and financial risks, including those noted in the role profile.
12. Experience of Solvency II pillar 1 requirements.
13. Non-life actuarial experience is preferable.
14. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
15. Proven ability to influence.
16. Ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationships across the business.
