Role: Staff Grade Medical Scientist - Blood Transfusion

TTM Healthcare is working with one of Ireland's leading public hospitals to find a Medical Scientist specializing in Blood Transfusion.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Performing routine laboratory scientific work to the highest standard in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
* Receiving training and maintaining competence in all relevant areas of laboratory services.
* Supporting colleagues and working collaboratively with all team members.
* Participating in service development and improvement.
* Evaluating equipment, reagents, and consumables.
* Ensuring compliance with international and national guidelines and standards for the provision of service and participating in internal quality control and external quality assessment.
* Participating in performance review and development and continuous professional development.
* Following laboratory standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines.
* Facilitating arrangements for educating and training staff.
* Participating in the on-call rota as needed.
* Ensuring quality standards and providing a quality service.
* The post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post and contribute to the development of the post while in office.
* Actively supporting the hospital in maintaining JCI and ISO15189 accreditation and other best practice standards or guidelines applicable to diagnostic laboratories.
* Performing tasks and duties in a manner ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including the Blood Directive 2002/98/EC and Medical Devices Directives 93/42/EC and 98/79/EC, where applicable.
Essential Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Science from the Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) or Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biomedical Science, Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). Or Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course AND Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Practice.
* Registration with CORU or eligible for membership upon completion of study or in the process of applying for state registration.
* Knowledge and experience of working in an ISO15189 accredited Medical Laboratory.
* Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Team Player.
* Good Communication Skills.
