Project Worker, Coffee Shop, Dublin
Location: Dublin
Contract: Full-Time, 2 Years Fixed-Term
Salary Scale: Aligned to Focus Ireland Scale
The purpose of this role is to work as part of a team in providing professional services, access to food, respite, and access to advice and information to single people who are out of home or at risk of homelessness. The service provides a safe environment that facilitates social inclusion and enables customers to become more involved in services. The role offers 20 hours per week, with the potential for additional hours if desired.
What you will do:
1. Work within the framework of the overall objectives of Focus Ireland.
2. Adhere to the overall policies and procedures of Focus Ireland and those specific to the Coffee Shop.
3. Follow the Focus Ireland model and standards of best practice.
4. Be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and report concerns to your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
5. Work in the Coffee Shop following all policies of Focus Ireland while on-site.
6. Work a flexible 7-day rota to meet the objectives of the service.
7. Take on assigned roles in the Coffee Shop daily.
8. Provide a safe, welcoming environment by facilitating conditions that reduce or remove incidents and/or harmful behaviours, in line with Focus Ireland’s TCI and managing violence policies.
9. Interact with people, observe their behaviour, deal with emergencies according to guidelines, and report incidents to appropriate staff while recording observations for communication.
10. Assist in the daily cleaning of the service.
11. Maintain up-to-date contact records, daily logs, and written Incident and Child Protection Reports.
12. Assist in mentoring new staff and model good work practices.
13. Provide reports on a monthly basis as deemed necessary by management.
14. Work closely with other teams within Focus Ireland and other Statutory and Voluntary Agencies as appropriate.
15. Attend meetings and training as required.
16. Engage in regular supervision sessions with the Line Manager.
17. Continuously develop the role in conjunction with the Line Manager to ensure effective task management aligned with the strategic aims and objectives of Focus Ireland.
18. Undertake other duties as assigned in consultation with the Line Manager.
What you will need:
1. Relevant third-level degree in social care (e.g., youth work, social studies, addiction, psychology).
2. At least 2 years’ experience in the social care field working with disadvantaged persons.
3. Experience supporting marginalised persons with high risk and challenging behaviour.
4. Working knowledge of issues affecting people out-of-home and their impact on physical, emotional, and psychological development/status.
5. Experience working in a team with a common goal.
6. Working knowledge of services in the homeless sector. (Desirable)
7. Awareness of child protection issues and appropriate responses. (Desirable)
